"Comet ISON, formally known as C/2012 S1, was a sungrazing comet discovered on 21 September 2012 by Vitaly Nevsky and Artyom Novichonok. The discovery was made using the reflector of the International Scientific Optical Network near Kislovodsk, Russia."
This image was taken with a 16" Newtonian telescope at Backridge Observatoy, WV, October 6, 2013. The camera was a QSI 585wsg and the filter was Luminance. The exposure was 60 seconds.
